Simple terms explainer
Councils must prepare and review Carer Support Plans (CSPs) for people who provide unpaid care. A CSP looks at the carer’s own needs, health, wellbeing, and what support would help them in their caring role and in their life outside of caring. It should be prepared in partnership with the carer, written down clearly, and reviewed regularly so that the support stays up to date with their situation. The purpose is to recognise the carer’s role, make sure they get the right help, and prevent their own needs being overlooked.
