Simple terms explainer

Every three years, councils must prepare a children’s services plan with the aim of providing services which best safeguard, support and promote the wellbeing of children in its area. This includes making sure services are in place to keep children safe, healthy, and well cared for. Councils must also work with other organisations, service providers, and Scottish Ministers, and the plan must be kept under review. The council must provide children’s services and related services in accordance with the plan. The council must report on its compliance with the plan every year.
