Simple terms explainer:
Councils must prepare and publish a British Sign Language (BSL) Plan every six years. These plans must show how the council will promote and support the use and understanding of BSL within its services and local communities. The plans should take account of local circumstances and set out practical steps to meet the needs of BSL users, in line with the National BSL Plan. Councils must also report on progress, ensuring BSL users can access information and services more easily.
