Simple terms explainer:

Councils must support the preservation and promotion of the Gaelic language. This includes working with Bòrd na Gàidhlig to develop and implement Gaelic Language Plans where required, and taking steps to encourage the use and visibility of Gaelic in education, signage, services, and cultural activities. The aim is to help protect and grow the language as part of Scotland’s heritage and identity.
