Simple terms explainer:
Councils must ensure that children and young people placed in secure accommodation receive a high-quality education that meets their individual needs. Secure accommodation is used for children who are at serious risk of harming themselves or others and need intensive support in a safe, locked environment. Education in these settings must be trauma-informed, inclusive, and designed to help young people re-engage with learning and prepare for life beyond care.
