Simple terms explainer
Councils provide support to individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. This means they must assess each person’s situation, offer advice, and provide temporary accommodation if needed. If someone is found to be unintentionally homeless, the council must help them find a permanent home. The aim is to make sure everyone has a safe and secure place to live and gets the help they need during difficult times.
