Simple terms explainer

If someone who is homeless refuses a reasonable offer of permanent housing, the council may no longer be required to provide long-term accommodation. However, they still have a duty to offer advice and assistance to help the person find somewhere else to live. In some cases, the council may also continue to provide temporary accommodation for a short time, especially if the person needs help to make other arrangements. This support ensures that people aren’t left without shelter immediately and have access to guidance on their housing options.
