Simple terms explainer
Every five years, councils must look at whether it would be helpful to create or update a Masterplan Consent Area - a special zone where planning permission is already agreed in advance for certain types of development. These areas are designed to speed up the planning process and encourage well-planned growth. The council must publish a statement explaining whether it plans to make any changes, helping communities and developers understand what’s being considered and why.
