Simple terms explainer

Councils help enforce legal requirements relating to the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH). REACH is designed to ensure that businesses understand and manage the risks associated with chemicals they manufacture, import, distribute or use. Councils can check that substances subject to restrictions or authorisation requirements are being supplied and used lawfully, investigate suspected breaches, and take enforcement action where necessary.
