Simple terms explainer
Councils must ensure that all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) supplied to consumers meet legal safety requirements. This includes checking that regulated ATVs comply with construction and safety standards, are suitable for their intended users, and do not present unacceptable risks to consumers. Councils can investigate complaints, inspect products offered for sale, require unsafe vehicles to be withdrawn from the market, and take enforcement action where legal requirements are not met.
