Simple terms explainer

Local authorities must enforce regulations which require fuels such as biodiesel and bioethanol to be clearly and accurately labelled when offered for sale. This includes checking that filling stations and fuel retailers correctly indicate when fuel blends contain biofuel above the prescribed thresholds, so consumers are properly informed about the fuel they are purchasing. Trading Standards Officers are responsible for monitoring compliance and taking enforcement action where labelling is inaccurate or misleading, supporting consumer protection and transparency at the point of sale.
