The Young Persons’ Free Bus Travel Scheme began on 31 January, and there have been over 300,000 applications received since its launch, with eight out of ten of these coming through the Improvement Service’s getyournec.scot online platform. 226,000 cards are in the hands of young people and almost 3 million journeys have been made, supporting young people across Scotland to access new opportunities while also helping to meet environmental targets.
The Improvement Service is continually looking at ways to make the online application process more streamlined, while maintaining the robustness required for child safety and identity verification aspects of the scheme, and we are working with delivery partners to provide additional support to local authorities who have responsibility for processing offline applications.
