The Shaping Places for Wellbeing programme, an Improvement Service (IS) and Public Health Scotland (PHS) project, is growing to include Rutherglen and Fraserburgh into its work to boost wellbeing and reduce inequality across the country.

These new towns increase the number of parts of Scotland benefiting from the programme to six.

The overall ambition of the programme is to improve Scotland’s wellbeing and reduce inequalities through enabling partnership-based system-wide action at a local level.

It supports local authorities, health boards, and their partners to deliver on the range of national ambitions including 20-minute neighbourhoods, the review of Scotland’s Town Centre Action Plan and Scotland’s public health priorities. The programme is anchored in supporting action to deliver the Place and Wellbeing Outcomes.

Irene Beautyman, Programme Lead, said: “The Shaping Places for Wellbeing Programme began working with Alloa, Clydebank, Ayr and Dunoon as our four project towns and we’ve recently recruited project leads to take forward the work in each of these towns.

"As part of our work to support delivering system change, we always intended to expand the number of project towns to include those we currently mentor. We are already in a position to expand to include Rutherglen and Fraserburgh into the programme as project towns. We are delighted to have them on board!

“Recruitment for project leads for these new project towns will be getting underway shortly.”
