For those helping others with their money worries, the Money Guiders Scotland network held two excellent events in December, continuing into January with two more and has three planned for February.
In December we heard from Age Scotland in a workshop on how to complete the Attendance Allowance form and from the Scottish Illegal Money Lending Unit about their fight against loan sharks.
The first event of the new year, in January, saw three organisations come together to talk about the benefits of Scotland’s national smart card and the Young Scot Card, with Young Scot, Transport Scotland and the Improvement Service all taking part.
The second event will feature a speaker from Scottish Government with an exploration of key research findings from an evaluation of devolved low-income benefits.
February events
Shortly after Scottish Government talk, the network will also hear from Social Security Scotland in an update on Scottish benefits and what they’ve learned about promoting them. There’s also the third in the series of Wellbeing for Money Guiders workshops with Money Advice Scotland. Rounding off the month will be an event looking at energy bills and talking to energy suppliers, with Changeworks and Octopus Energy.
