The Improvement Service has been shortlisted for two Scottish Public Service Awards.
The Digital Public Services team has been shortlisted in the Digital Public Services Award category for their getyournec.scot platform while the National Trauma Transformation Programme has been shortlisted for the Campbell Christie Public Service Reform Award.
Since 2020 getyournec.scot has been ensuring that those eligible can apply for a National Entitlement Card (NEC) online from the comfort of their own home. As well as removing cost from the system, online channels like getyournec.scot alleviate pressures on local authorities and on frontline services while making it easier for the public to access services such as free bus travel, library and leisure membership and the Young Scot Card.
Established in 2017, the National Trauma Transformation Programme has paved the way in recognising that trauma-informed and responsive services, systems and workforces are crucial to ensuring everyone in Scotland can lead equally healthy and fulfilled lives. The programme is a collaboration across organisations, sectors and experts through lived and learned experience, including NHS Education for Scotland, Scottish Government, COSLA, Resilience Learning Partnership and Improvement Service.
The Young Persons’ Free Bus Travel Scheme, in which the Improvement Service were a key partner alongside local authorities across Scotland, has also been shortlisted for the Policy into Practice and Campaign of the Year Awards.
This is the tenth year of the Scottish Public Service Awards, which Holyrood Communications runs in partnership with the Scottish Parliament and the Scottish Government. The awards were created to celebrate contribution made to Scotland’s civic society from within the civil service, Scottish Government, Scottish Parliament, local government, health and social care sector, broader public sector and their partners within the Third Sector.
The winners in all 12 categories will be announced at a ceremony in the Scottish Parliament on 6th December 2023.
