A new dataset has been added to the Improvement Service Spatial Hub as part of a wider initiative to help local government planners obtain and use data to make decisions around planning applications.
The latest addition to the Spatial Hub is data about National Air Traffic Services (NATS) safeguarding zones, which identifies areas where planning authorities are required to consult with NATS if they receive planning application for structures of specific heights around airports.
The current technology used by many local government planners to access data is IDOX Uniform, which is about to be upgraded, necessitating the provision of data as a Web Feature Service (WFS) rather than saving and uploading files in other formats.
As the Spatial Hub provides data in this WFS format as standard, it is well-placed to host data from a variety of sources so that all local government planners can access it easily, and it was already hosting SGN’s gas network data before this latest addition from NATS.
