The IS has provided guidance to organisations managing Scotland’s roads on managing the digital information that represents their street network.
The training covered how to accurately digitise the road layout, along with advice on how to record special engineering difficulties such as bridges and traffic calming features. It also included crucial details relating to surface reinstatement materials.
The information is used throughout the Scottish public sector, including advising the public of temporary traffic orders, and by the Office of the Scottish Roadworks Commissioner for the recording and publishing of planned roadworks.
The training was part of ongoing data improvements for the national Street Gazetteer information held within the One Scotland Gazetteer. Forty-three delegates from 27 organisations, including local authorities and Transport Scotland operating companies, attended the six half-day sessions.
