A new professional network for local government staff is seeking members and mentors from across Scotland.
The Local Government Connect Network, operated by the Improvement Service, will bring together ambitious individuals in the early stages of their local government career. Members will have the opportunity to build professional connections and develop their skills and knowledge through a mix of online and in-person events and mentorship one-to-ones.
Following approval from the Solace Scotland branch in November 2023, the Improvement Service is now inviting each local authority and partner organisation Chief Executive to nominate up to five members and up to five mentors to join and support the network.
Members should be people in the early stages of their local government career with aspirations of progressing in the sector.
Mentors should be experienced working in and supporting local government, skilled and keen to support our members through 1-2-1 mentorship opportunities.

We aim to help people flourish by providing a supportive space for people in the early stage of their career to connect with others, develop their skills, and learn from the experiences of people already established in their local government career. Initiatives like this are also key to attracting, developing and retaining talented people within the sector, helping create a sustainable future for local government."
Chief Executives have been invited to nominate members and mentors by 31 May 2024.
