Colleagues across all 32 local authorities have been attending the LGBF Practice Sharing events since August 2025. The events are a well-established part of supporting improvement and peer learning across local government and use the LGBF to provide a shared context and starting point for discussion, anchoring sessions in common data and insight. At each event there is a strong emphasis on sharing innovation and best practice, creating space for councils to learn directly from each other by showcasing how they are responding to challenges and delivering change in practice.
As of June 2026, 12 different events have been held covering libraries, housing, recycling, museums, physical activity, street cleaning, workforce, roads maintenance, planning, social care and economic development. 100% of colleagues who attended said the events have been useful and informative to them, and over 75% were keen to further explore some of the examples shared by colleagues in the case studies.
The 2026/27 LGBF Events calendar is now underway, with 15 events scheduled for this year. Each event is generating a clear set of outputs, with session recordings supported by published briefings and over 30 case studies. This helps capture learning and make it accessible beyond those able to attend on the day. All materials are published on the LGBF website, examples are listed below.
