A new dataset has been added to the Improvement Service’s Spatial Hub showing how energy-efficient Scotland’s new homes are designed to be.

The resource brings together historic Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) data for new dwellings, based on Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) ratings – making it accessible for mapping and analysis.

The dataset – covering data from 2008 onwards – explores how the energy performance of new homes has evolved over time and how it varies across the country.

It will support:

  • National policy development
  • Local authority planning
  • Academic research

Aline Kirkland, Digital Planning Data Project Manager at the Improvement Service, said:

“This dataset makes it easier to understand how energy performance in new housing is developing across Scotland.

“By making this information accessible and linked to specific locations, we hope to support better decision-making in planning, policy and research.

“Improving the energy efficiency of housing is central to meeting Scotland’s net-zero targets and reducing energy costs for households – and this dataset supports that work.”
