The Improvement Service has published its annual report for 2023, highlighting our activities, key achievements and performance over the last year.
The publication takes a look programme by programme at how we have supported councils in Scotland to deliver better public services and looks ahead to the future of local government under the Verity House Agreement and our own transformation programme with Solace Scotland.
Sarah Gadsden, Improvement Service Chief Executive, said:
“2023 has been another challenging year for local government. The cost of living crisis shows no sign of abating, and many councils are still struggling to recover from the impact of Covid, all while operating under continuing financial constraints.
“The wide-ranging support provided by the Improvement Service has been invaluable in helping councils to maintain and improve the public services they deliver.”
