The Improvement Service has been nominated for two awards at the Scottish Ethnic Minority Talent Festival and Summit - the Talent Intelligence Award and Public Sector Team of the Year.

The nomination recognises the IS’ Digital Public Services (DPS) team’s contribution to data-driven workforce planning and digital innovation across Scotland’s local government.

The Talent Intelligence award nomination was based on the IS’ analysis of local government workforce data in 2024 which helped identify skills gaps and diversity metrics, enabling councils to make smarter recruitment and succession planning decisions. This work set a benchmark for embedding data-driven insights into public sector talent strategies, supporting inclusion and long-term workforce resilience.

The Public Sector Team of the Year nomination highlights the DPS’ team’s transformational work on parentsportal.scot and its dedicated mobile app, launched in 2023. The service replaces the traditional “school bag run” with a secure digital platform, improving accessibility, inclusion, and family-school communication.

This latest recognition follows the team’s success at the ScotlandIS Digital Technology Awards 2025, where they won the Public Sector Innovation Award - further testament to the IS’ commitment to delivering inclusive and impactful public services.
