16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence16 Days - Toolkit

The National Violence Against Women Network have developed a toolkit of resources to add value to local 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaigns across Scotland. This toolkit supports a number of activities which can be progressed locally and nationally to maximise the impact of the campaign (25 November – 10 December).

The toolkit includes:

  • Images of the National Network logo to be used on campaign materials and virtual meeting backgrounds. The logo banner images have been updated to include the 2024 chosen theme of Imagine a Scotland without violence against women and girls.
  • Graphics and animations on key statistics/messages relating to violence against women and girls and gender equality.
  • A selection of images to use as an MS Teams background.
  • A template communications schedule for social media during the 16 Days campaign.
  • ‘Imagine’ Theme prompt questions and pledge card.

Imagine a Scotland without gender-based violence

This theme was developed as part of the national planning group for 16 Days, and was inspired by the work of the Imagine Project in Dundee.

The Imagine Project 2023 - Community Artwork

Amy Black:

"Over the course of six weeks, I orchestrated a series of workshops for 'The Imagine Project' as part of my Community Education degree. Throughout these workshops, participants discussed the impacts of gender-based violence across diverse and intersectional groups of people within our society. I aimed to create a safe space and platform where people can engage with one another in a respectful manner, learning and reflecting on the issue and using community art to express themselves We discussed the behaviours, ideologies, and attitudes that underpin and perpetuate GBV, as well as the strategies we can employ to address this issue together.

Participants were then asked to create their own personal piece of art imagining what a world without GBV would look like to them. The work was gathered together to create this impactful piece of community art, encapsulating everyone’s individual stories, reflections, thoughts and feelings."

"Imagine" - Poem by Myra Ross

Myra Ross, Highland Violence Against Women Partnership Training Officer, has written a poem inspired by this year's theme. A spoken version of this work is available on Youtube and embedded below.
