The best way to get value from ELCID is to use it with others. Our Action Learning sessions bring local authority colleagues together around a theme in the dashboard. The series covered quality, uptake, provision mapping and spine charts, and the records are below.

The sessions work on a simple idea. Colleagues bring a real question about their own provision, explore the data quietly for themselves, then think it through with people from other councils. There's no reporting exercise and nothing to prepare in advance. What makes them work is the knowledge colleagues bring to the data: the dashboard shows the picture, and local context explains it.

Each session produced a published record of the questions raised, the discussion, and where colleagues took it. These are worked examples of applying ELCID to real planning and improvement questions.
