featuredNew report examines how local government is responding to Scotland’s changing population
Navigating Demographic Change, produced by the Improvement Service, examines the population change that Scotland faces and highlights its impact on public services and the common challenges this creates for local authorities.
The Scottish population is rapidly becoming older, with people over 65 making up an increasingly large proportion. This, together with changes across all age groups, will have a huge impact on all spheres of government, particularly on the demand for and design of services, health and inequalities, and public finances.
The report highlights the work already being undertaken by councils to address these challenges.

featuredBriefings demonstrate impact of the Place and Wellbeing Outcomes
We have developed a series of one-page briefing documents that detail each of the Place and Wellbeing Outcomes and summarise the evidence supporting the impact of each Outcome.
The briefings are designed to help organisations take effective, place-based actions that enhance wellbeing and support equity in local communities by providing valuable insights and evidence.
They can help organisations communicate effectively and advocate for place-based approaches that enhance wellbeing and reduce inequalities within local communities.
