Following on the mapping of data returns completed during phase 1 of the project, the IS has developed a local government Online Data Returns Register (ODRR).

The Online Data Returns Register is an authoritative list of all data returns Scottish local authorities are required to submit to other organisations.
The ODRR contains metadata on data returns, including detailed information on the data items they are made of.
The aim of the register is to:
- Enhance the discoverability of datasets, to increase the use of the data
- Identify areas where similar or duplicate data is being returned, to support the rationalisation of the local government data reporting landscape
- Support local authorities in the management of data collections.
The ODRR allows users to:
- Search and discover data returns and data items, based on themes, keywords, etc
- Find metadata about any data return, including what data items (i.e. fields) are being reported
- Identify related data items across data returns.
Use the dashboard below to explore the register, find detailed information on data returns and more.
