The Money Advice Outcomes team was asked to help plan and deliver an event bringing key stakeholders across the Highland and Island communities together, to share in their learning, knowledge and practice and identify ways to strengthen partnership working across the financial inclusion sector.
The event took place in Inverness at the Spectrum Centre on Friday, 29 April 2016.
The day was attended mostly by senior management stakeholders across council, housing, health, credit union and third sector organisations.
The event tied in with the work stream as emerged in phase 2 of the Improving Outcomes in Money Advice project and provided an opportunity for learning, networking, a forum for discussing some of the challenges to partnership working and exploring the solutions and what works well and learning from good practice.
This event was a collaborative approach with colleagues from the Improvement Service, Money Advice Service, Scottish Government, Money Advice Scotland, Education Scotland, ASH Scotland and many wider stakeholders.
The Financial Capability Strategy for Scotland helped to set the context for the day.

Cheryl MacFarlane, Office Manager, Highland Communities Credit Union said that it was good to be part of the event and that she managed to meet up with various people and take away lots of ideas
Since the event Cheryl has made contact with Jim Lally, Education Scotland for further support about how to engage education staff and parents and how to stimulate further buy in to strengthen the partnership working with the credit union. Although they currently run some collection points in schools the credit union is keen to explore the opportunity to grow this further.
